OPERATIONS & AUTOMATION
About the Company
Kabert Industries is a diversified manufacturing company specializing in aluminum products, headquartered in Illinois. As part of their diversified operations, Kabert also manages a transportation division offering school bus charters for events, field trips, and schools without dedicated fleets. Despite their manufacturing expertise, Kabert recognized that some of their internal processes — particularly around their bus operations — were heavily manual and inefficient, creating bottlenecks as the business grew.
The Challenge
Kabert Industries approached us with a time-consuming and error-prone process for managing their bus charter operations.
Specifically:
- Each bus trip required manual completion of a charter sheet and signature sheet.
- The reliance on manual data entry introduced significant inefficiencies, errors, paper waste, and delays in billing and reporting.
Kabert Industries needed a faster, more accurate, and scalable solution without completely overhauling their existing systems.
The Solution
We developed a customized automation system using Google Sheets to eliminate the need for manual entry and scanning:
- We integrated their trip management platform with Google Sheets, enabling automatic population of trip data directly into the spreadsheet.
- By simply checking a box next to a trip entry, a fully populated charter sheet and signature sheet would be instantly generated — ready to print or store digitally.
- No more handwriting, printing, scanning, or manual data transcription.
- The system was designed to be simple for drivers and administrative staff to use with minimal training.
The Result
The implementation resulted in a dramatic reduction in manual workload for key players in the operation:
- Weekly time saved: 16+ hours of manual work
That’s over two full workdays saved every week, allowing Kabert Industries’ team to redirect their efforts to higher-value tasks such as client service, maintenance, and growth initiatives.
Additionally, the automation improved data accuracy, accelerated billing cycles, reduced paper usage, and contributed to overall operational efficiency across their transportation division.
